July 19-24
9th Grade - Young Adults
Cost: $900
Sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland
Join us this summer for a week dedicated to serving communities still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Helene in 2024.
Our proposed itinerary from our partner, Wonder Voyage, is to drive down to Black Mountain, NC on Sunday, July 19 and settle into dormitories at a local university as our home for the week of community building and service. Each day will have hands on efforts serving those affected before the hurricane hit and those suffering even more post-immediate relief. All our partnerships are working with the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina in continued efforts to support people as they live into their new reality. Click HERE for a thematic overview of what we will be focusing on for our time in Appalachia.
The cost of the trip is $900, which covers everything needed to experience and enjoy the trip. Participants will be encouraged to bring a little extra money for souvenirs or snacks, but otherwise their costs (program coordination, worksites, room, board, and transportation) are covered with their registration. Payments are split into three sums, but if another payment plan works better for your family, please let us know. Along with new friends, hands on experience, and a full heart - students will receive 40 hours service learning.
Along with getting youth to register, we are also searching for three more chaperones who would like to participate in this amazing experience. Chaperones should be excited to drive, mentor young people, get their hands dirty, and pray deeply! Studies have shown that one of the most life-long faith affirming opportunities is a service trip. Why wait to register? Commit to a service project and see if we can change the way we weather our own storms. Registration closes March 27.
